Deirdre’s upcoming engagements include the role of Guatemi in Die Fritjof Saga by Elfrida Andrée at Theater Essen (world premiere) in February 2026, and Judith in Bluebeard’s Castle at Auditorio de Tenerife in 2026 and in Germany in 2027.
The 2024–2025 season featured performances as Marie in Wozzeck in Essen, Judit with Opera Zuid in The Netherlands, and Angela Rose in The Listeners by Missy Mazzoli (German premiere) in Essen. That season also highlighted her extensive concert repertoire, including the mezzo part in several performances of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion in the Netherlands and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Symphonia Rotterdam. In 2024, she made a remarkable short-notice debut as Venus in Tannhäuser, performing both the Dresden version in Schwerin and the Paris version at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, while simultaneously making her debut as Marie in Wozzeck in Essen.
Her 2022–2023 season included the mezzo-soprano part in Verdi’s Requiem at Tonhalle Zürich and a Beethoven concert in the Philharmonie Essen, featuring both the Ninth Symphony and selected lieder. She performed a series of Tannhäuser performances (Venus) at Aalto Theater Essen and, in June 2022, stepped in for two performances of the same role at the Wartburg in Eisenach, which she had sung on previous occasions. Following Deirdre’s highly acclaimed interpretation of Judit in Bluebeard’s Castle at Aalto Theater Essen in 2022, she was invited to perform the role in Israel with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra under Steven Sloane in December 2022. She reprised the role in October 2023 with the Bochumer Symphoniker. In the 2020–2021 season, she made her debut as Leonore in Fidelio in Metz, France. Other notable engagements include Waldtaube in Gurre-Lieder and Fenena in Nabucco at Aalto Theater Essen, Germany; Komponist in Ariadne auf Naxos at Opéra de Lausanne, France, and Das Meininger Staatstheater, Germany; Judit in Bluebeard’s Castle with the Essener Philharmoniker, Germany; Sieglinde in Die Walküre at Aalto Theater Essen; Gertrud in Hänsel und Gretel at Opéra National de Nancy, France; Venus in Tannhäuser at Das Meininger Staatstheater, Germany, and with the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra in Seoul, South Korea; and Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito with The Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She has also appeared at the La Chaise-Dieu Festival, France, performed Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, and sang Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In addition to opera and concert work, she is an active recitalist, performing an extensive repertoire of lieder.
Deirdre continues to expand her operatic repertoire, focusing on roles such as Kundry, Brangäne, Fricka, and Waltraute (Wagner), Amneris (Verdi), Didon and Cassandre, Marguerite (Berlioz), and Santuzza (Mascagni). She earned her Master’s degree in Opera with Summa Cum Laude from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2010 and has also studied the Dutch language. She lives in The Netherlands with her family.
